Lexington Plastic Surgery

Generally, most reconstructive surgery is covered by health insurance, as it is considered medically necessary. This type of surgery is done to help someone restore function or obtain what would be considered a normal appearance by correcting deformities. Reasons for deformities can be birth defects, medical conditions such as cancer, or trauma from things such as a car accident. Before making an appointment with our office it is important to note that we do not accept insurance, but do have multiple financing options available.

Types of reconstructive plastic surgeries include breast reconstruction after a lumpectomy or mastectomy from breast cancer, or repairing a cleft lip or palate, helping a burn victim restore their natural appearance, or minimizing a scar from a traumatic event.

Examples of things that reconstructive surgery can address and help to repair include:

  • Breast reconstruction
  • Breast reduction (also known as a reduction mammoplasty)
  • Facial reconstruction after a traumatic event or a tumor needing to be removed
  • Cleft lip and palate reconstruction
  • Treatment for lymphedema
  • Chronic Migraine surgery
  • Body contouring
  • Repairing a deviated septum (Septoplasty)

Or any other number of surgical procedures to help the body heal from cancer, trauma, infections, birth defects, or anything else that may have damaged your body.

One of the most interesting things about reconstructive surgery is that in these situations, not only are no two patients alike, but no two injuries are alike, no two cancers are alike, and no two reconstructions will ever be alike. As a result, reconstructive surgery requires time and patience from everyone involved in the process.

Please see our Breast Reconstruction page if you have had or will have a mastectomy for breast cancer to learn more about your options.

Please see our Skin page if you have a skin cancer or lesion that requires removal and reconstruction for more information about your possible options.

Please see our Migraine page for more information on those services.

Of course, talking personally with Dr. Gerstle during a consultation will provide you with the best options. For a detailed consultation with Dr. Gerstle to help you understand what options are the best for your individual situation, please request a consultation or call (859) 279-2111.
