WHAT IS A FACELIFT PROCEDURE?
As a result of the procedure, deep lines and wrinkles are smoothed, facial contours are defined, excess skin is removed, and muscles regain tone. Jowls, marionette lines, and nasolabial folds are improved, and forehead lines are tightened. Neck skin and double chins are eliminated.
A facelift aims to restore a youthful look without drastic changes. Although it can last up to a decade, aging will naturally continue, and periodic minor treatments may be desired to maintain results

Before and After Photos
How is the surgery performed
Dr. Gerstle will make incisions, typically behind the ear, and then proceed to remove or redistribute facial fat, remove excess skin, and tighten the muscles that are relevant to the outcomes you’ve discussed. The whole procedure usually takes anywhere from three to five hours.
Most patients can return home later that day. We ask patients who are traveling from out of town to stay for a night at a local hotel so that Dr. Gerstle can examine you at your post-operative appointment the following day, prior to your return home.
Facelift Post Op
After surgery, a drain is placed under the skin to collect fluids. You’ll receive specific discharge instructions before going home. Expect bruising for up to three weeks, and it’s recommended to take it easy for the first week or two. Most patients can return to work in about three weeks.
- Post-surgery Drain: Collects fluids.
- Discharge Instructions: Provided before leaving.
- Bruising: May last up to three weeks.
- Recovery Time: Initially, take it easy; most return to work in about three weeks.
You’ll have a follow-up appointment the day after surgery to discuss further appointments or treatments with Dr. Gerstle. Regardless of the timing of your appointments, he is always available for questions or concerns via his personal cell phone and email.
Self-care is crucial during the weeks following surgery. Have friends or family check in on you and prepare meals. Keep essentials like your phone, charger, medications, gauze, towels, and a thermometer nearby. Enjoy podcasts, audiobooks, or that series you’ve been meaning to binge.
